Flexion-Distraction Therapy

What is it?

Flexion-distraction therapy is a gentle, non-invasive chiropractic technique that uses a specialized table to stretch and mobilize the spine. This method reduces pressure on the spinal discs and nerves while promoting healing, making it an ideal option for athletes and active individuals recovering from injuries or seeking improved spinal function.

What Conditions Does It Treat?

  •  Herniated or bulging discs

  • Sciatica and nerve compression

  • Chronic lower back pain

  • Degenerative disc disease

  • Postural-related discomfort and stiffness

How it works

During flexion-distraction therapy, the patient lies on a specially designed table. The chiropractor uses gentle, rhythmic stretching and mobilization to decompress the spine, particularly in the lumbar and thoracic regions. This low-impact approach relieves pain, restores mobility, and encourages natural healing without the use of medications or surgery.

Benefits

  •  Reduces pressure on spinal discs and nerves

  • Improves flexibility, range of motion, and spinal alignment

  • Promotes natural healing of spinal tissues

  • Provides safe, non-surgical pain relief

  • Supports athletic performance and overall spinal health

Who's it for?

  •  Athletes recovering from back or spinal injuries

  • Individuals with acute or chronic lower back pain

  • Patients seeking a gentle alternative to traditional spinal adjustments

  • Anyone looking to improve mobility, spinal function, and performance

Our What to Expect

  • Frequency may range from 1–3 times per week depending on the condition

  • Often combined with soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and functional movement work

  • Patients typically notice reduced pain and improved mobility within a few sessions
